Floyd Mayweather Goes The Distance

© Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

‘The Best Ever’ Former world champion Floyd Mayweather went the distance against John Gotti III in an exhibition fight on Saturday night in Mexico City. Mayweather, 47, fought Gotti in an eight-round fight with no judges in Arena Ciudad de Mexico.

It was a rematch of a fight that ended in a massive brawl in Florida last June.

The biggest highlight of the fight was when Mayweather was having a dispute with the referee during the round. He shouted at the referee and proceeded to fire him as they exchanged words. Moments later a replacement referee came into the ring to resume the fight. One of the strangest things witnessed in a boxing bout for sure.

Floyd Mayweather retired with a record of 50-0 and has fought in multiple exhibition fights since his retirement. Fighting fighters from overseas to Logan Paul, either way fighter love using Mayweather’s name to help them obtain the biggest check that they’ve ever had. These exhibition fights aren’t the best for fans as the Mexican fight fans showed their disapproval for the fight by loudly booing both fighters.

Nobody has defeated more world champions than Floyd Mayweather. His record for 23 beaten world champions is going to be a hard record to beat. You don’t really see that type of run in boxing which that record most likely won’t get eclipsed anytime soon. Manny Pacquiao, Oscar De la Hoya, Shane Mosley and Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez are some of the most notable list of fallen champions that were a victim to Floyd’s hit list.
