Can the Broncos stay perfect in the preseason agains the Packers?

  • What: NFL Preseason Game
  • When: Sunday, August 18
  • Who: Green Bay Packers vs. Denver Broncos
  • Time: 8:00 p.m. ET
  • Where: Empower Field at Mile High (Denver, CO)

Both the Broncos and Packers kicked off their preseason with strong performances.

The Packers showcased Jordan Love, who led a quick touchdown drive in just three snaps, while the Broncos saw a promising debut from their first-round pick, Bo Nix.

Although Love won’t be suiting up for the Packers in their second preseason game, Nix will get another opportunity to lead the Broncos for part of the game as the team looks to continue building confidence in their future franchise quarterback.

With the Packers expected to primarily play their backups, the betting odds have shifted in favor of the Broncos.

Green Bay Packers

The Packers are using this game to evaluate their roster depth, mainly focusing on key backup positions. With Jordan Love sitting out, the main objective is to identify who will secure the role of his top backup.

Additionally, Green Bay wants to establish who will emerge as the third running back behind Josh Jacobs and A.J. Dillon. Wilson currently leads the competition, though he must replicate last weekend’s performance to maintain his edge.

The team is also keen to see who will claim the fourth wide receiver spot behind Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, and Jayden Reed.

The competition is tight, with Howard and DuBose vying for the position.

The Packers are likely to cover the spread if Wilson can deliver another strong performance on the ground and if the receivers step up while minimizing turnovers.

Denver Broncos

Nix now has the prime opportunity to secure the starting quarterback position, with the Broncos giving him every chance to prove himself.

He must build on last week’s performance to win the job, consistently finding open receivers and handling pressure effectively. Facing a formidable Packers defense will be a significant test for him.

Additionally, the Broncos are looking to solidify their number-two running back and identify secondary receivers to support Sutton and the starting lineup.

These players must stand out, with Mims having a strong chance to lock in his spot.

The Broncos will likely cover the spread if Nix can effectively connect with open targets and make impactful plays. They also need to establish a strong running game and capitalize on their opportunities to keep the offense moving.

Packers-Broncos Best Bet

The Packers don’t seem as committed to this game as the Broncos, particularly with Nix expected to play at least the first quarter, if not the entire first half.

The heightened competition within the Broncos roster adds extra motivation, likely giving them the edge in this matchup.

While the Packers might have the upper hand in a regular-season game, the Broncos are poised to win this one and cover the spread.

Will the Cowboys or Raiders get their first preseason win?
