It’s no secret that The Las Vegas Raiders are looking to draft a franchise quarterback in next months draft on April 25 in Detroit Michigan. The Raiders hold the thirteenth overall pick. The hot name that is popping on their draft board is Jayden Daniels. Daniel’s being projected as a top 5 pick. The Raiders won’t be able to draft him, without giving up a massive haul of draft capitol. That price could be too steep for the Raiders. So can they still find a franchise quarterback at number thirteen?

Enter Michael Penix Jr! The Sixth Year Senior has fought with multiple injuries throughout his career. Battling multiple acl and shoulder injuries that almost derailed a promising career. Deciding to enter his name into the Transfer Portal, he decided to transfer to Washington. He put on a clinic his last two years in Seattle. In 2023, he thrown for a NCAA best 4,903 yards passing. His career year had resulted in him finishing second in the Heisman voting to Jayden Daniels. Penix Jr. also led his team to a runner-up finish in the College Football Playoff against Michigan.

As great of a season Penix Jr. had, there were still questions about his durability and over athletic ability. After Washington’s pro day, it seems like a lot of those doubts have been put to rest. various scouts had recorded Penix Jr. running the 40 yard dash at anywhere from 4.4-4.5 range. Proving that he is faster than most scouts had thought, has teams taking a harder look at drafting him. Projected anywhere between the late first round to the second round, it’s looking like the stock of Michael Penix Jr. is on the rise.
